Power outage in Cambridge after dump truck strikes hydro pole – TheRecord.com

CAMBRIDGE — Nearly 200 homes lost power on Monday morning after a dump truck knocked down a hydro pole, just north of the 401.

Emergency services responded to the report of a single vehicle crash in the area of Boxwood Drive and Cherry Blossom Road in Cambridge at around 8:10.

Waterloo Regional Police said a dump truck struck a hydro pole, knocking it down. Hydro crews responded to the crash and the intersection and area roads have been closed.

Energy Plus reported 186 customers lost power following the crash. In a tweet, the power authority estimated the hydro would be restored to all homes by 2:30 p.m.

As of 10 a.m., 43 homes were still without power.
